Partnership for Workers’ Mobility Rights in the EU

CAI and its member organizations in the EU partnered with the European Citizens Action Services (ECAS) in developing an international project for the Year of Workers’ Mobility in the EU (2006). Given the diversity of experiences of migrants in each EU country, several CAI member organizations drafted reports on labour mobility based on CAB evidences and organized seminars at the national level. The project culminated with a report presented to the European Commission about the unsolved issues of enlargement and free movement of persons, including a set of recommendations for the way forward regarding the free mobility of workers. The European citizens should be thus able to better benefit from their free-movement and other rights related to the European citizenship, an important aspect of citizens’ well-being in Europe and an active European citizenship.
