OUR WORK

Access to independent advice is an important feature in any democracy. The impact of our work has a profound effect on many people’s life. We play a vital role in combating social exclusion, providing access to justice and fair treatment, and have a direct influence on policy making through the evidence we collect.

Citizens Advice International (CAI) provides a global platform from which to further promote people’s right to free, independent advice and information. CAI gives us the chance to speak in a loud voice about people’s problems in places where they themselves are not able to reach. Kaliani Lyle, CAI Vice-Chair

I am delighted to give my personal support to the Citizens Advice service which plays an immensely valuable role in local communities right across this country. Through its network of bureaux and its full-time staff and trained volunteers, well-informed advice and practical support for a whole range of problems is provided free to several million people every year. For many, particularly those from the more deprived communities, this help is an absolutely crucial lifeline. This help also gives the Citizens Advice service a real awareness of growing problems which it uses to campaign effectively for policy changes locally and nationally. I know how much Government values this role. Rt. Hon. Tony Blair
