6th European Forum of Citizens’ Advice Services

on the Exercise of European Citizenship Rights

24-25 February 2009 - Brussels

The 6th European Forum of Citizens’ Advice Services will bring about more than one hundred professionals in the field of information and legal advice for the citizens, as well as interested general public. They will have an opportunity to share their experience, good practices in advice and evidence based social policy work, and make recommendations for the better application of the rights related to the European citizenship in the future.

Citizens Advice is the membership body for Citizens Advice Bureaux in England, Wales, providing member Citizens Advice Bureaux with information, training, consultancy, business support, and co-ordinates social policy work and campaigning activities . It also provides support in service development and delivery to new/emerging national Citizens Advice services.
 
Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free information and advice from over 3,000 locations, and by influencing policymakers.  Advice is free, impartial, confidential, and is available to everyone regardless of race, sex, disability, sexuality or nationality.
There are currently 428 members across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  CAB advice is offered from over 3,200 locations.  Citizens Advice provides training and skills development for 27,200 people who work across the service. The majority of the workforce are trained volunteers. CAB advisers rely on relevant, accessible and practical information to help 2 million clients a year with more than 5.7 million problems.
